The Yucca Valley Film Festival will debut November 15, 16 and 17 at the Yucca Valley Community Center. The three-day festival will screen the best of short and feature films by emerging filmmakers from all over the world, as well as student filmmakers from Yucca Valley. Managing editor Tami Roleff says applications for youth to apply to be a part of a film workshop opens Thursday…
The heart of the Yucca Valley Film Festival is the youth “Make Your Own Film” workshop. The workshop will be held before the festival begins and includes the making of a narrative short film, from script to screening. The workshops are for those from 14 to 22 years and include two Saturday workshops as well as independent assignments. Under the guidance of film professionals, participants will join a creative movie team to write, prepare, and shoot a short film on location in Yucca Valley. The short film will open the Yucca Valley Film Festival on Friday, November 15. Space is limited; a final selection of students will be made from the applications received. Registration opens September 26 and closes October 18. Register online at www.yucca-valley.org or in person at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
