A bill by Congressman Paul Cook of Yucca Valley passed in 2017 that encourages and rewards employers who hire and retain military veterans. The HIRE Vets Medallion Program is now accepting applications for 2020 honorees. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains who is eligible and how to apply…
The HIRE Vets Act promotes private sector recruiting, hiring, and retaining of men and women who served honorably in the U.S. military. The awards program recognizes employers who have demonstrated efforts to reach out and support our veterans searching for employment. Employers are evaluated based on a range of criteria, including:
- Veteran hiring and retention;
- Availability of veteran-specific resources;
- Leadership programming for veterans;
- Dedicated human resources;
- Compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans.
Applications for the 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Program will open to employers on January 31. To learn more about applying for the HIRE Vets Medallion Program and Award, visit www.HireVets.gov.
