ANOTHER HEAT WAVE; BE PREPARED

Dangerous heat will build across the Southwest starting today. The National Weather Service says temperatures in Twentynine Palms are expected to reach 110 today and 113 tomorrow, before falling back a few degrees Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Long exposure to high heat can result in heat stress some warning signs of a person suffering from heat stress include: profuse sweating, nausea,
cramping, high body temperature and exhaustion. Heat stress is a serious medical condition and if left unchecked can progress to heat stroke and
may even result in death. Heat stroke occurs when the bodies cooling system fails. Prolonged heat stress can be fatal to anyone but those over
age sixty suffer the highest risk of death. Use common sense during heat waves to stay hydrated and keep cool. Drink two to five times more water
than usual. If you suspect heat stress, getting the victim medical help is urgent.

Call 911 if you suspect someone is a victim of heat stroke or exhaustion. There are places you can go to get out of the heat: your local town hall or city hall, community center, senior center, library, restaurants, movie theaters, and stores.
