Another candidate has announced he is running for the 8th Congressional District seat. In September, Representative Paul Cook said he will not run for re-election and will seek a seat on the County Board of Supervisors in 2020. Democrat James Ellars from Apple Valley joins Democrat Chris Bubser; Republicans Tim Donnelly, Jay Obernolte, and Jeremy Staat; and Peter Mathisen, with no party affiliation.
