ANNUAL RELAY FOR LIFE TOMORROW IN YUCCA VALLEY

Hundreds of local residents will join the fight against cancer this weekend in the Morongo Basin’s Relay for Life event, a 12-hour walkathon to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Yucca Valley High School track with a survivors’ lap, followed by a caregivers’ lap. One of the highlights of the relay will be the luminaria ceremony, featuring the Marine Sandpiper, at 8 p.m. Participants have been raising money for their respective teams through various fundraisers and pledges, and will continue to do so during the event by selling items and food, setting up games, and walking laps for their pledges.
