The Animal Action League’s upcoming 80s dance party will celebrate their 30th anniversary and the decade in which they began. Finally, a place to wear that off-the-shoulder ‘Flashdance’ sweatshirt you’ve kept in storage. Reporter Heather Clisby has the gnarly details…
The Animal Action League in Joshua Tree is hosting a “Totally Pawsome” 80s Dance Party to celebrate 30 years of providing low-cost spay and neutering services to the high desert. There will be a totally tubular 80s costume contest, so dig up those neon leg warmers or that old stone-washed denim jacket and dress your bod in a righteous fashion. The radical event will feature a photo booth, a nacho bar, a bake sale, and nonstop music. The 80s dance contest will relive classics like The Robot, The Egyptian, and moves from “Thriller” and “Footloose.” Admission is free but donations are suggested. The event will also include raffle prizes, including a two-night stay at the Renaissance Indian Wells, tram tickets, theatre tickets, museum tickets, power baseball tickets, and gift cards.
Each raffle ticket is $1 and the 50/50 tickets are available at any of the League locations for $5. The party will take place on April 27, from 6 to 9 pm at the League’s main office, 62762 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree. For more info, call 760-366-1100 or email [email protected]
