The hilarious comedy “Shakespeare in Hollywood” continues its run at Theatre 29. ROP Broadcast student Kylie Robinson interviewed Director John Wright …
I interviewed the director of Theatre 29’s production, “Shakespeare in Hollywood.” I asked John Wright what the play was all about.
“Shakespeare in Hollywood” is about Oberon and Puck from “A Mid-Summer’s Night’s Dream.” They get sucked from their time into the 1930 production on the Warner Brothers studio of “A Mid-Summer’s Night’s Dream.”
How do you think people are going to react to this production?
“People are going to react differently. It’s a farce. We’re going to have a lot of laughter, a lot of hilarity. The end will totally catch them off guard.”
What made you decide to choose “Shakespeare in Hollywood” as your show for the 2014 season?
“Ken Ludwig is a great writer as far as comedy goes. The way he writes is a total 180 from everyone else. I think I read 18 scripts to find one I liked and his just really stood out.”
“Shakespeare in Hollywood” runs until December 20. For more information and tickets, go to Theatre 29.org or call 760-361-4151.
