The latest vaccination rates here in the Morongo Basin vary wildly from 102.4% in Pioneertown to 31.6% in Landers. Gary Daigneault explains the figures and anomalies…
The high rate in Pioneertown is because the Mobile Medical Unit offered vaccinations there and non-residents were vaccinated. Another anomaly is Twentynine Palms, while the Marine Base population is part of the city, the DOD does not release individual base figures. Headquarters Marine Corps told Z107.7 News that statewide, active-duty marines are 49.6% vaccinated, the civilian community is at 28.4%. Doing the math extrapolating what percentages of the city population are military and civilian. Twentynine Palms comes in at 37.4%. Yucca Valley is 59.2% vaccinated, Morongo Valley 48.3, and Joshua Tree at 46%. Wonder Valley is included in countywide figures. With vaccines getting approval from the FDA and more requirements from employers, the vaccination rate is beginning to raise significantly. The latest figures from San Bernardino County shows 60% of eligible residents with some form of vaccination, statewide, California is at 76.7% and nationwide 73.4%.
