AN ATTEMPTED MURDER AT A YUCCA VALLEY MOTEL YESTERDAY

A man was arrested in connection with an attempted murder at a Yucca Valley Motel yesterday. According to the Sheriff’s Department at 4:40 pm, Sunday, December 27, Deputies responded to a report of an attempted murder at the Best Western Hotel on the Highway in Yucca Valley. Deputies were told the suspect, Sherman Brant, 30, was rummaging through the dumpsters of the business when he was confronted by a 40-year-old employee of the motel. He told Brant to stop and to leave the premises. Brant became upset and produced a knife when the victim told Brant he was calling the police and attempted to stab the victim in the head. The victim defended himself and was cut on the side of his head during the attack. Brant then fled on foot while being pursued by the victim who relayed information to Sheriff’s Dispatch. Responding deputies located Brant east of the business crossing Highway 62 and he was taken into custody. The victim sustained moderate injuries to his head from the knife attack. Sherman Brant was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for investigation of attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
