AN ARREST FOR ASSAULT IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

An argument over missing appliances in Twentynine Palms escalated Wednesday and resulted in the arrest of at least one person for assault. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the 71500 block of Florida Drive in Twentynine Palms just after 12:30 p.m. because the caller felt threatened by Joseph Huffman, 50, who, he said, threw a rock at him and hit him in the arm, causing it to bleed. Huffman then allegedly threatened the victim saying he was going to shoot him, and asked his wife to get his gun. The victim said he was in fear for his life, so he hit Huffman with a golf club. Huffman claimed that his back was broken in the assault. Deputies determined that Huffman was the aggressor, and Joseph Huffman was arrested on suspicion of assault, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
