The Twentynine Palms Water District lost an estimated million-plus gallons of water when a fire hydrant was vandalized. Sheriff’s Detective Shaunna Ables said about 2:30 Tuesday morning, deputies were called to El Paseo Drive near Sunrise Road in Twentynine Palms where a fire hydrant was gushing a massive amount of water. Ables developed leads that led her to the 6100 block of Mariposa Avenue in Twentynine Palms where she contacted Thomas McCool, 49. After an investigation, Thomas McCool was arrested on misdemeanor drug charges and for violating the terms of his Post-Release Community Supervision, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released.
