A 35-year-old La Quinta woman was arrested in Yucca Valley Thursday night following a hit-and-run crash in a stolen car. About 10:15 p.m., deputies were called about a reckless driver in the parking lot of the Ross department store in Yucca Valley. The driver, later identified as Maria Alonso, had left the scene by the time deputies arrived, but learned she had been involved in a hit-and-run crash. Deputies located Alonso in the vehicle about a quarter-mile away. During the investigation, deputies learned the vehicle Alonso was driving had been reported stolen just a few minutes prior to the hit-and-run crash. Maria Alonso was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and hit-and-run, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $100,000.
