AFTER COURT FOR BURGLARY, MAN STEALS FROM WAL-MART

Less than a week after a Landers man was in court for burglary, he was arrested again Wednesday for stealing at Walmart. According to a Sheriff’s report, Walmart security called deputies about 2:50 p.m. to report that a man, later identified as Daniel Haverty, 18, was using a knife to cut security sensors off high-ticket merchandise in the electronics section in order to remove them from the store. When deputies arrived, they located Haverty on the north side of the Walmart parking lot. Haverty fled across Highway 62 into a residential area, where he was taken into custody, with stolen merchandise from Walmart in his possession. Daniel Haverty was arrested for investigation of commercial burglary, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $75,000.
