ACCEPTABLE RECYCLABLES

0

We all know that cans, bottles, and paper can be recycled, but can all cans, bottles, and papers be thrown in Burrtec recycling bins? Burrtec has released a list that not all of these items can be recycled. Plastic containers must have a number stamped on the bottom in order to be recyclable. Soiled paper, tissues, plastic padded envelopes, plastic dry-cleaning bags, bubble wrap and shrink wrap should not be placed in recycle bins. Other no-nos include broken ceramic dishes and glassware, tempered glass, clothing, food and plants, medical waste and syringes, and oil and household chemicals. Recyclable items include white and colored paper and file folders, newspapers and magazines, shredded paper, phone books, paperbacks, “junk mail” including window envelopes, cardboard, including cereal and other food boxes, aluminum and tin cans, empty plastic medicine bottles, aerosol containers, and glass bottles and jars. For more information about what is and isn’t accepted, call Burrtec at 760-365-2015.
