About 2,000 customers in Yucca Valley were without power for hours Thursday night. About 8:30 p.m., power lines near the Yucca Valley High School started arcing and power went out in the central part of the town. The electrical panel at the Best Western Hotel started smoking shortly before 9 p.m.; firefighters determined there was no fire at the hotel. However, an electrician was needed to restore power to the hotel, so the hotel’s guests were relocated to other hotels for the night. Power was restored to most residents by about 12:30 this morning.
