ABANDONED APARTMENT BURNS SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN YUCCA VALLEY

A previously red-tagged multi-family housing complex caught fire yesterday (March 13) in Yucca Valley. According to San Bernardino County Fire, crews responded to a reported structure fire in Yucca Valley Sunday just after noon in the 7000 block of Joshua Lane. The first arriving engine reportedly found fire and smoke coming from a single unit of the abandoned complex with eight units total. Crews rapidly deployed hose lines to knock down the fire until another engine arrived which then enabled a swift offensive interior attack. The fire was extinguished by 12:30 p.m. and was contained to the unit involved. There were no victims or injuries to fire personnel and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
