A WIN AND A LOSS FOR COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BASKETBALL

“When it rained, it poured” Wednesday for the Fighting Cacti of Copper Mountain College. A horrendous shooting game plagued Copper Mountain College and ended their win streak at 7. The Fighting Cacti shot a season-low 24 percent from the field and 11 percent from three as number 3 ranked Mt. San Jacinto College handed number 10 Copper Mountain College a 35-point loss.
It was a very competitive first half; CMC lost a late lead in the half and went into the locker room down 40-32.
Mt. San Jacinto played tremendous defense and wore Copper Mountain down and they extended their lead. CMC went on to lose 91-56.
Anthony Rice led Copper Mountain in scoring Wednesday with 15 points. Zack Kroker also added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Fighting Cacti.
CMC will have to have short-term memory and get ready for the next game as they are back in action tomorrow evening against number 12 West LA College at RCC with a 2 p.m. tip-off.

The Copper Mountain College Fighting Cacti women’s team had an outstanding defensive effort to even their record at 3-3 on the year. The team came out flat in the first half and found themselves down by 13 at intermission. The Cacti came out in the third quarter determined to lock down on defense and that is just what they did. They held Mesa to just four points in the third quarter while tallying 22 points on the offensive end en route to a 60-54 Cacti victory. The ladies have now won two in a row and three of their last four.
Chey Bogan-Osbey led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds. Celeste Reyes chipped in 15, including three 3-point baskets. LeLisa Watson added 12 points and nine rebounds. Markayla Allen and Adriana Delgado had great defensive performances.

The Cacti next play at the College of the Desert tournament on December 14, 15, and 16.
