Today is the 24th anniversary of Z107.7 radio signing on to the air. It was July 15, 1989, at 7 seconds after 1:07 pm that we flipped the switch and began transmitting to the communities of the Morongo Basin. In that time, we have seen not only tremendous changes to our region, but tremendous challenges met and overcome by our proud residents. We showed our grit after a major earthquake, built a college with private funding, a first in the nation, approved a pipeline built under budget and under time to bring us vital water resources. Saw the creation of a town, a new city thrive, major changes to our economic structure, and tremendous growth of our schools, hospital, and Marine base. Through it all, Z107.7 Radio has remained dedicated to our goals: providing accurate and valuable information with nationally recognized local news, quality adult contemporary music entertainment, valuable local information daily, and support for the many local events and group that make up the unique fabric of our special corner of the Southern California Desert. We have the same local family ownership and management, and have seen ourselves, along with society, transformed by new technologies. On this 24th birthday, the staff and management of Z107.7 thank you, our loyal listeners, for the continued success of Z107.7 Radio and kcdzfm.com.
