A TALK ABOUT CHRONIC PAIN IN WONDER VALLEY TOMORROW

Chronic pain is common and millions of people suffer from it. Many people do not get relief from drugs; in fact, the drugs may make the pain worse. Reporter Eric Knabe says a lecture in Wonder Valley tomorrow will discuss chronic pain and how to treat it…
On Wednesday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Wonder Valley Community Center, Dr. Andrea Rubinstein presents the program “Why Don’t Those Medicines Work? Understanding Chronic Pain.” Rubinstein is the department chief of Pain Medicine, at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa. This talk will focus on why chronic pain is different and the risks of treating it like acute pain with opioids. More importantly, she will also discuss what does work and how to get better.
