A speeding car and a thrown cigarette led to a large street brawl and two arrests in Yucca Valley Saturday night. Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Yost said, shortly before 11, about a dozen people were outside near Deer and Onaga Trails when a red SUV went speeding by and someone threw a cigarette into the vehicle. The vehicle stopped, and Victor Alcaraz, 32, of Yucca Valley, and two women got out and started fighting with members of the crowd. Alcaraz and the women got in the car and drove off southbound on Deer Trail to get reinforcements. When deputies arrived, the crowd had scattered, deputies got a description of the SUV and located it with Alcaraz inside, along with Gregory Martinez, 40, and Manual Tarango, 22, both of Yucca Valley. The driver refused to pull over for deputies for more than a half mile. After an investigation, Victor Alcaraz was arrested on suspicion of carrying a cane sword. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000. Also arrested was Greogry Martinez for investigation of being drunk in public. He was cited and released. And the driver of the vehicle, Manual Tarango, 22, was cited for driving without a license. Deputies were later called to Hi-Desert Medical Center where several participants in the fight had gone to treat their injuries—including a broken leg-but the victims were uncooperative with the deputies.
