Jumpstart is a national program that works to get kids going early on language skills. Reporter Dan Stork tells about a reading event at Joshua Tree Library that is part of the effort…
On Tuesday, October 21, at 11 a.m., the Joshua Tree Library hosts a Jumpstart Read for the Record event. People across the country will unite to read the children’s book “Bunny Cakes,” a comical story of sibling bonding and birthday shenanigans, by Rosemary Wells. Last year, a world record was set when nearly 2 1/2 million children and adults all read a selected story on the same day. Children will listen to the story “Bunny Cakes,” create a fun, themed craft, and receive a special certificate for participating. The first twenty children to arrive will receive a free copy of the book “Bunny Cakes” to keep. For more information about Read for the Record, please call the Joshua Tree Library at 760-366-8615.
