The 15th annual Parade of Homes Tour is Sunday, February 17. Today we offer a sneak peek preview of another unique, do-not-miss property. Here is reporter Mike Lipsitz with a look at Hummingbird Haven…
For local seniors and disabled residents, the Parade of Homes generates funds that provide vital services each year. And for tour-goers, it offers an opportunity to explore some of Morongo Basin’s most interesting, unusual, and outstanding private domiciles.
Today we visit Hummingbird Haven, one of two featured homes in Twentynine Palms. Owners Paul Stackel and Lyn Sells began a four-year renovation of this 1960’s ranch-style home in 2002. They added a dining room, master bedroom suite, art studio, and garage. In the kitchen they went with high ceilings and bay windows. Hummingbird Haven showcases the owners love of American and European art and antiques which are seen throughout.
Tickets are $25 to $27 and available at www.reachoutmb.org, the Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms chambers of commerce, The Desert Trail, Reach Out offices in Twentynine Palms, Z107.7 studios in Joshua Tree and at other locations throughout Morongo Basin.
