A SAD BUT IMPORTANT YEARLY REMINDER ABOUT DRUNK DRIVING

Every year on this July 15, Z107.7 has aired this literally sobering reminder of the tragic consequences of drinking and driving. If this message makes just one drinking driver not get behind the wheel, and saves even one life, it has all been well worth it. For the 24th year in a row, here is Patricia Fowler…
“Right now, across our country, from every state to every county to every city, there is an effort to remove the drunk driver from behind the wheel, to get them off the road, and to save lives. If it hadn’t been for a drunk driver, today, July 15, would have been my son Sean’s eighth birthday. Please, do not drink and drive.” Hi, this is Patricia Fowler, and those words were recorded by my husband, Michael, 26 years ago on the one year anniversary of our son’s death. It is still appropriate today, but the acronym DUI not only covers alcohol, but drugs. Today, July 15, would have been our son Sean’s 34th birthday. It still matters. Please do not drink and drive and do not drive under the influence. Thank you.
