The stormy weather is bringing flash flood watches and warnings to our area of the desert. Reporter Corrisa Evans has some timely safety tips…
Flash floods can happen any time and any place with little to no warning. From mountainous to flat terrains, rain may be channeled into ravines turning a wash into a torrent in minutes. Make sure to know the signs and rules for flash floods. Keep alert for heavy rain and watch for rising water levels. Know where high ground is and get there quickly if the water starts to rise rapidly. Be even more cautious at night it is harder to recognize the danger. Never attempt to cross flowing water or drive through flooded areas. Stay safe this summer and keep alert for flash flooding.
