A POSSIBLE CASE OF CHILD LABOR TRAFFICKING IN YUCCA VALLEY

Authorities are investigating a possible case of child labor trafficking in Yucca Valley. Last Tuesday at 9 a.m., a team from the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement unit served a search warrant related to an illegal marijuana grow at a house in the 8000 block of Del Monte Avenue. During the search, deputies contacted two adults and an 11-year-old boy inside the home. The boy said he had been brought to the location from New York three to four months ago by his grandmother, who left him there with the two adults, who were not related to him. He said he rarely went outside and had no relatives nearby. The adults were not able to explain the boy’s purpose for being at the home. Because investigators could not rule out that the possibility that the boy was a victim of labor trafficking, he was removed from the home and turned over to Child and Family Services. The two adults with him have not been arrested at this time. Anyone with additional information should call the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force at 909-387-8400.
