A NEW VAN AND A CHECK FOR THE MORONGO BASIN HEALTHCARE DISTRICT

The Morongo Basin Transit Authority presented a new van and a check for more than $17,000 to the Morongo Basin Healthcare District at its meeting earlier this month. The 2017 Ford Transit-350 van and check for $17,579 came out of the MBTA’s Transportation Assistance Grant program, which funds vehicles and grants to support specialty transportation needs in the Morongo Basin. No local taxpayer funds are used in the program. The van will be used for the healthcare district’s LIFT transportation services program that provides more than 200 trips per week for residents to get to non-emergency medical appointments. The van is also wheelchair accessible. The grant funds will be used to help with the program’s fuel and maintenance costs.
