The members of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council are not elected, but are appointed by the district supervisor. Morongo Basin MAC Chairman Mark Lundquist has lived in Joshua Tree for 33 years. He was president of the board at Morongo Basin Mental Health for 25 years, which period overlapped with working in the Morongo Unified School District, where he finished as Director of Transportation. In addition to serving on the MAC now, he is also chair of the Citizens Oversite Committee for the MUSD for the expenditures of the School Bond Funds, and a Board member of the Morongo Basin Transit Authority. With regard to the MAC, he says his “main goal is to establish a clear line of communication with the county and bring the community issues in a clear and concise manner for their help and consideration.”
