The Morongo Valley Community Services District board of directors met in open session last night to discuss a number of topics. Shortly after the open-session meeting, however, the board members entered into closed session, where board members seemingly began shouting at one another. Reporter Andrew Dieleman explains…
Shortly after the Morongo Valley Community Services District board of directors entered into closed session, board members began to shout violently at one another. The shouting became so loud and aggressive that Morongo Valley Fire Chief Gary Yearsley was asked to step in and mediate the situation. Since the incident took place during closed session, it is unclear who specifically was shouting and what the shouting resulted from. After the closed-session incident, Yearsley stated that if the shouting continued that he would be forced to shut down the meeting. The shouting subsided and the meeting concluded peacefully.
In open session, the board first approved the search for contractors to complete the floors for the Covington Park kitchen and conference room. The board then approved the creation of an ad-hoc committee to update the CSD’s current job description for the General Manager position before seeking an individual to fill the position. The board also briefly discussed the upcoming CSD and Fire Department Halloween “Trunk-or-Treat” event and approved adding electronic locks to the Covington Park outside bathrooms.
