A CLOSER LOOK AT FEATURES FOR REACH OUT’S “PARADE OF HOMES”

Six homes have been selected for Reach Out Morongo Basin’s February 14th Parade of Homes tour. The annual fundraiser brings in thousands of dollars to support services for Basin senior and disabled residents. The six homes have been chosen for their artistic, historic or other unique attributes. Reporter Mike Lipsitz offers a one-at-a-time sneak peek at each home on the tour. Today, we look at Lost Coyote Cabin…

This year’s Parade of Homes tour gives ticket holders entrée into six unique dwellings. Today, we visit the first of two treasured properties in Yucca Valley. This once abandoned desert cabin and home to a lost coyote is aptly named “Lost Coyote Cabin.” It features a rustic exterior, spectacular views and cozy uniqueness inside. Originally built as a “Jackrabbit homestead cabin” present day owners Darryl and Anne Krieghoff spent years meticulously refurbishing the space to suit their needs and tastes. With reused and repurposed items and materials found at swap meets, garage sales and vintage stores, Lost Coyote Cabin is a little bit rustic, part tongue and cheek, and a testament to the history and culture of this desert paradise! For Parade of Homes sponsor Z107.7 News, this is assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz.

Parade of Homes tickets are $25 and include all six homes, plus live music and lunch at the Park Rock Café in Joshua Tree. Tickets are available by calling 760-361-1410 and at the 29 Palms and Yucca Valley chambers of commerce, the Reach Out offices in Yucca Valley and 29 Palms, and here at the Z107.7 studios on Hallee Road in Joshua Tree.
