Some Twentynine Palms High School students are getting ready to experience the Boys State program. ROP broadcast student Steven Sanchez spoke with local Boy’s State program representative Adam Lunn…
Five lucky students from Twentynine Palms High School were selected to participate in the 79th annual California Boys State program. I asked Adam Lunn about the purpose of this state program.
“Boys State was created in the 1930’s to promote Americanism. What was happening here in America was we had a lot of groups promoting other forms of government and the American legion wanted to promote our forms of government and teach youth here in America why our form of government is better than others.”
I asked how beneficial it is.
“Boys state is extremely beneficial on college applications. It’ll look great if you go to the service academy, it looks great. And if you ever go into politics, there is one young man who went to Boys State in Arkansas who went on to become president and this was his foundation for politics.”
Lastly, I asked if he had any tips.
“The biggest tip we give every individual going to Boys State is participate. There are so many opportunities available to you all you have to do is throw yourself into everything.”
