In the summer of 1942, a 57-year-old engineer and local eccentric, Frank Critzer was known as the man who lived under a rock, Giant Rock. During a criminal investigation, Critzer caused a quantity of dynamite, stored in his home, to explode, killing Critzer and wounding three deputies. Presented by Mike Digby, a retired detective/bomb technician, this lecture will focus on the forensic evaluation and post-blast investigation, as well as address the many rumors. The lecture starts Wednesday, November 15, at noon. Admission is $5 or free for museum members/sponsors. The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is located at 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley.
