The Morongo Basin Youth Soccer Association under-14 Co-Ed All-Star soccer team came home as Cal South District 5 champions following a tournament in Apple Valley this past weekend. Coached by Bruce Watts and Justin Alexander, the team allowed only one goal the entire weekend. On Saturday, the Co-Ed All Stars won 1-0 against the Empire Soccer Club and 4-1 against the Barstow Youth Soccer All-Stars. On Sunday, the MBYSA won 2-0 against Murrieta. In the final playoff on Sunday, the Co-Ed All-Stars defeated the Palm Desert All-Stars in overtime, 1-0, and earned a spot at the District 5 Tournament of Champions January 26-27, where they will face the other top seven teams from San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
