A CAR EXPLOSION IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

Update 9-12-17 to correct the date and include more details.

One person was injured in Joshua Tree National Park September 3 from a car explosion. A spokesman with Joshua Tree National Park said the person was lying down in the front seat of his new car near Stirrup Tank when he lit a cigarette. There was a leaking propane tank in the car which then exploded. The car blew up and the man received burns to his face. He was able to walk out to the road and flag down a passing vehicle for help. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
