The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team pulled out a 38-36 buzzer-beating victory over Serrano High School last night in a consolation semifinal in the Mustang Tip-Off tournament in Hemet. Coach Jess Geson said with 2.7 seconds left in the game, senior Annika Dendekker scored the game-winning basket on a pass from junior Taylor Spitz, to cap a fourth-quarter rally that had the local girls down six points with two minutes left in the game.
Sophomore Savannah Beasley’s three-point basket tied the game at 36-36. It was Beasley’s fifth 3-point basket of the game and she finished with a game high of 15 points.
The Yucca Valley High School girls finish the tournament today in the consolation championship against Temescal Canyon at 4:30 p.m.
