Calfire has lifted the burn permit suspension in State Responsibility Areas as of today. With more details about burning requirements and how to obtain a Calfire burn permit, here’s reporter Tanisha Cureton…
The San Bernardino County and State Responsibility Areas burning permit suspension has been lifted, effective today. To obtain a permit, visit fire.ca.gov. While cooler temperatures have helped to diminish the threat of wildfires, residents should always use care when using fire. Individuals can be held criminally liable for fires that get out of control. Prior to burning, permit holders must call first to see if burning is permitted. Burning requirements include only dry, natural material such as leaves, pine needles and tree trimmings. The burning of trash, painted wood or other debris is prohibited. Do not burn on windy days. Piles should be no larger than four feet in diameter and in height. Clear a 10-foot diameter area down to bare soil around your piles. Have a shovel and a water source nearby. An adult should be present of the fire at all times.
