The Copper Mountain College men’s basketball team traveled to Costa Mesa Tuesday evening to take on Orange Coast College and snapped its three-game losing streak, winning big, 91-63.
CMC started the game with great energy and jumped out to an early lead, holding on to an 11-point advantage, 41-30 at the half.
Domination on defense and controlling the glass by grabbing every rebound was the key for CMC to pull away in the second half to a final score of 91-63.
It was a complete team victory and the work load was spread around for the Cacti. Dominique Anderson led CMC with 14 points and eight rebounds; Dillon Voyles scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds; Anthony Rice added 11 points and four assists; and Dshaun Barrett chipped in 10 points for the Fighting Cacti.
Copper Mountain improved to 14-11 on the year and 4-5 in the Orange Empire Conference.
Next up for CMC is the last regular season home game of the year. Irvine Valley College will take a trip to the Hi-Desert Thursday February 14. Tip-off is at 5 p.m. at the Copper Mountain College’s Bell Center.
