Morongo Basin Residents were rattled out their beds this morning by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake. The U.S. Geological Society said the trembler hit at 1:04 a.m. and was centered at 13.7 miles north-northwest of Borrego Springs, 14.9 miles east-southeast of Anza, and 26.7 miles south of Palm Springs. Between 1:06 and 1:33 a.m. four more quakes ranging in size from 3.5 to 2.8 hit in the same general area. The USGS received reports of people feeling the temblor from as far away as San Diego, Beaumont, Riverside, Idyllwild, Pomona and Los Angeles. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
