A 4.5 EARTHQUAKE RATTLES THE REGION

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake rattled the Inland Empire at 6:42 this morning. The quake was centered about two miles north of Banning. Residents in the Morongo Basin felt the temblor from Morongo Valley to Pioneertown to Joshua Tree. In the Banning area, some residents reported some items falling off shelves after a sharp jolt, but there have been no reports of major damage or injuries.
