70 KIDS GETTING READY FOR “MARY POPPINS JR.” AT THEATRE 29

The Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theater program is in full swing, 70 students and 10 staff members are rehearsing for 6 performances of Disney’s “Mary Poppins Jr.” next weekend. The program has two age groups of 35 students each with “Juniors” (7-11 years old) meeting from 10:00 am – 12 noon. And the “Seniors” (age 12-17) meeting from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Grants from U.S. Bank, The City of Twentynine Palms Public Arts Advisory Commission, and private donors kept program fees low. Because of the grants and donations, no children were turned away. The program teaches a wide variety of theatrical skills, including auditioning, acting, singing for Musical Theater, Choreography, costuming, make-up, props, backstage skills, set construction, lighting, sound, and box office management. The Musical, “Mary Poppins Jr.” will be directed by Gary Daigneault for the “Seniors”, Char Childs will direct the “Juniors”. The Musical Director is Bianca Stoker, Choreographer Lisa Goldberg, Cindy Daigneault coordinates costuming. This exciting educational experience in the live arts has been going since June 25 and will culminate with six performances of “Mary Poppins Jr.” with two each day, Friday Saturday and Sunday, July 27, 28, and 29, 2018.  Tickets to “Mary Poppins Jr.” are available online at www.theatre29.org or by calling the theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151.
