A 66-year-old Twentynine Palms man was arrested Tuesday, accused of trying to murder his wife on Monday. According to a Sheriff’s report, the victim went to a medical clinic Tuesday to be treated for her injuries, and staff called deputies to investigate the attempted murder. The woman said that Robert Vocker has dementia and she had once filed a restraining order against him. She said they had been arguing at their home in the 6800 block of Alpine Avenue in Twentynine Palms the day before when Vocker grabbed her around the neck, pushed her into a corner, and said he was going to kill her. She said he choked her for an extended time, and she was afraid she was going to die. Deputies confirmed the victim had bruises around her neck and arm. Robert Vocker was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $1 million.
