An outing in Joshua Tree National Park can be an educational experience for the entire family. Ranger Pat Pilcher urges you to take advantage of ranger-led programs…
May is a great month to experience Joshua Tree National Park. There are ranger-led activities as well as self-guided trails that offer a wide range of experiences amid stunning desert scenery. Guided tours of Keys Ranch are conducted at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. History lovers will enjoy seeing this historic ranch, a rambling homestead featuring mining equipment and rustic buildings. Ranch tours are by reservation only. Evening programs at Jumbo Rocks and Cottonwood campgrounds are scheduled on most Saturday nights at 8 p.m. These programs are open to all and require no reservations. Along with these activities, the spring flowers are emerging and promise to add a bit of color to our often drab desert landscape. During the upcoming season, camping is also a popular event. For more information about park activities, call the visitor center at 760-367-5500.
