The County’s Department of Public Health held its second COVID-19 testing event at Copper Mountain College Thursday. This was the first testing event that was open to everyone, even if they didn’t have any symptoms of COVID-19. Managing editor Tami Roleff was there, and got tested…
While I haven’t experienced any symptoms of COVID-19, I joined 549 other people for the free drive-up COVID-19 test at Copper Mountain College Thursday. It started with joining a long line of cars and checking in during your scheduled appointment time.
One of the health department workers even asked those participating about their mental health. Two rows of stations were set up and residents in multiple vehicles were tested at the same time.
While you remain in your car, the health technician inserted a very long cotton swab into the back of your throat—unlike the previous test in which a bristly brush was inserted into one nostril.
The entire process was very orderly, but it took about an hour from the time I joined the line of cars until when I left after the test. The results will be back in about a week, although the County only notifies those people whose test results are positive.
