5,000 PEOPLE EXPECTED IN THE SUNFAIR AREA THIS SATURDAY

The annual Joshua Tree Half Marathon will be held at the Joshua Tree Lake RV and Campground on Sunfair Rd. in Joshua Tree this Saturday (November 2). Organizers say event has over 2,700 running participants and will bring around 5000 people to the area. All day Saturday the campground will be filled with runners, vendors, and race staff during the race expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is also where the race will start and finish that evening. The race will start at 6:15 p.m. and go until about 10:30 p.m. There will be a temporary road closure on Sunfair Road for about 20 minutes as runners cross the road. Residents should expect increased traffic on Twentynine Palms Highway. The event coordinators would like to express their apology for any inconvenience this may cause residents. The Joshua Tree Half Marathon operates under a special use permit from San Bernardino County and CHP.
