ABOUT 50 ATTEND COUNTY ENERGY WORKSHOP

A county renewable energy workshop was held in Yucca Valley last night. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there and says the turnout was pretty good……
About 50 people turned out for last night’s renewable energy workshop in Yucca Valley. Sponsored by the San Bernardino County Partnership for Renewable Energy and Conservation, or SPARC, this first of a three-part series was organized to collect public input on future renewable energy projects … their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The County Department of Land Use Services plans to use information gathered from last night’s small group roundtables to help shape the drafting of a Renewable Energy Element for the County’s update of the General Plan. Predictably, there was overwhelming support for small scale, point-of-use distributed solar applications as opposed to large, utility-scale developments and the habitat destruction, infrastructure and high costs associated with them.
