The City of Twentynine Palms and the Marine Base traditionally trade fireworks duty every July 4 and this year, the Marines have a vaulted plan to entertain patriots while still keeping safe in 2020. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
With the threat of COVID-19 still looming and social-distancing still enforced, the Marine Corps Community Services faced a challenge with this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show. Fittingly, the Marines plan to simply aim higher.
While the Marines have specifically selected high-altitude fireworks so that the display can be seen from a wider area, it also means that there will be no official community event. They are asking residents to enjoy the “extra-high” fireworks from the comfort of their homes.
The show will begin at 9 pm on Saturday, July 4 and will last about 20 minutes.
