480 ACRES AQUIRED BY MDLT TO KICK OFF 2022

The Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) has acquired 480 acres in the Pisgah Area of Critical Environmental Concern. This acquisition secures a section of the Cady Mountains to the west of Mojave Trails National Monument. The rocky hills and washes surrounding the property are home to bighorn sheep and desert tortoises.

With the recent acquisitions by the MDLT over the past few months, they are nearing 120,000 acres conserved since 2006! In the year ahead they will also be focusing their acquisition efforts on strategic areas that serve as climate refugia for imperiled desert species. The impacts of climate change are already well documented in iconic species such as the western Joshua Tree, and the land trust is actively mapping out how land preservation work can help address this immediate threat.
