It’s been a football tradition since 1968; the 47th Battle of the Bell football game between cross-basin rivals Twentynine Palms High School and Yucca Valley High School. The Wildcats hold the series lead with 28 wins, compared to 18 wins for the Trojans, and the Wildcats have won nine consecutive games. The Trojans haven’t won the Bell trophy since 2004. The Wildcats will take a 5-4 record into the contest and need a victory to get a possible third place tie in the De Anza League and keep their playoff hopes alive with a victory. The Trojans are 1-and-8 for the season. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Trojan Field in Yucca Valley.
