4.2 EARTHQUAKE ROCKS MORONGO BASIN

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the Morongo Basin at 9:26 this morning. The earthquake was centered about 10 miles south of Twentynine Palms, near Skull Rock in Joshua Tree National Park. The U.S. Geologic Society says the earthquake was between 4 and 5 miles deep. The earthquake was felt as far away as Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Needles, and San Diego. No damage has been reported, although a few residents have reported items falling off walls.
