360 COVID-19 CASES AND 17 DEATHS HERE IN THE MORONGO BASIN

Numbers released by San Bernardino County public health officials on Sunday, August 30 show 228 more people have been confirmed to have coronavirus. No new deaths were reported.

On Saturday, the total number of tests in the county went up by more than 115,000 due to the correction of an undercount, according to county officials. Before Saturday the week’s average was 3,659 tests per day. The number of COVID-19 patients in county hospitals continues to slide downwards from a high in late July, according to data from the state.

San Bernardino County confirmed cases are 47,373 with deaths at  716.

Here in the Morongo Basin there have been 360 confirmed cases and 17 deaths: Yucca Valley, 215 cases and 13 deaths; Joshua Tree, 67 cases and two deaths; Twentynine Palms, 50 cases and one death; Landers, nine cases and one death; Morongo Valley, 18 cases; and Pioneertown with one case.

County wide numbers:

Hospitalizations: 292 confirmed patients Saturday, down from 305 Friday; 42 suspected patients Saturday, down from 49 Friday.

Intensive-care unit: 103 confirmed patients Saturday, down from 111 Friday; five suspected patients Saturday, up from four Friday.

People tested: 469,136, up from 469,109 Saturday

Recoveries (estimated): 40,582, up from 40,386 Saturday
