31 people were arrested, and 25 illegal marijuana grow operations countywide were shut down, including three in Twentynine Palms and three in Landers, during the twenty-third week of illegal marijuana grow raids. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies and investigators from the San Bernardino County Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served 25 search warrants at properties in Landers, Twentynine Palms, Lucerne Valley, El Mirage, Phelan, Apple Valley, Hesperia, Pomona, Alhambra, and Monterey Park from January 31 through February 6 as part of Operation Hammer Strike, week twenty-three. During this time, investigators arrested 31 suspects and eradicated 424 greenhouses, as well as a THC extraction lab. Deputies seized 63,935 marijuana plants, 2,502.5 pounds of processed marijuana, four guns, and over $471,000 in cash. Investigators also mitigated one electrical bypass and four indoor locations.
The raids came as a result of numerous complaints received regarding large outdoor marijuana cultivations in the areas. The suspects were cited or booked on charges of cultivation of cannabis, over six plants, possession for sales of marijuana, illegal water discharge, manufacturing a controlled substance, utility theft, and conspiracy.
